Looking through family photo albums led me to consider the personal and universal qualities of old photographs. We are all shaped by our individual backgrounds, but there is also a common thread we can recognise in images  taken on simple 'old fashioned' cameras, which is so different from our modern  instant 'selfie' approach to capturing our daily lives.
